hey it's me, your pal, jay
Hi! I'm jay winkler. I'm the Archivist for Athletics at the University of Michigan's Bentley Historical Library. This is my website. I use he/him pronouns.
I am an athletic archivist because I think the history of sport is vital to understanding community history, and that sport history can provide us clues to understand the history of social change. Additionally, I think many of the materials are very, very fun to look at. As a lifelong Michigan fan, this is personal to me. If the Wolverines played it, I am interested in it. If you are a sport history researcher, Michigan history researcher or you're otherwise trying to contact me professionally, contact jmwink at umich dot edu.
I am/was also a contestant on Season 3 of Fox's The Floor. I know! I think it's crazy too! If for some reason you want to contact me about that or anything else, [email protected] will get to me, promise.
To a large extent this website only exists because I bought yourpaljay.biz so I could use something bespoke on Bluesky so you can follow me on there if you want, but I can't promise you're going to come out of the experience thinking more highly of me, unless you also like the Tigers and Michigan WBB and updates on what pencils I've been liking lately.
I live in Ypsilanti with my spouse, my dog Ernie, and my cat Lava.
One last thing: I do that thing with my name on purpose. It's "jay winkler", and that is how I'd prefer you to write it too if you don't mind. The short answer is "I like the way it looks better."
Website borrowed from Jack and you can too!
